Susanne Hopkins, age 52, of Independence went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at her home. She was born March 8, 1957 to the late Clifford and Marie Dunbar. She is survived by two daughters, Tanya Shalabi of Galax and Rebecca Hopkins of Independence; one son, David Hopkins of Winter Haven Florida; two sisters and brother-in-law, Leslie Brown of Independence and Tracy and Tim Gable of Galax; two brothers and sister-in-law, William and Claudette Dunbar Sr. of Galax and Steven Dunbar of Independence. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Susanne’s wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM in Twin County Funerals Sanctuary with Rev. Terri Gregory officiating. Family will be receiving friends same day from 1 to 2 PM. In lieu of flowers family ask that donations be made to the Cancer Center at UVA at P.O. Box 800773 Charlottesville, VA 22908-0773. Twin County Funerals is serving the Hopkins family.
